Xian is in the central of China's transportation network. It is very easy to get by air, train and bus from almost every major Chinese destination.
By Air
Xian Xianyang International Airport is located about 43 kilometers northwest of downtown Xian in Xianyang. As the fourth largest airport in China, Xian Airport is home to 57 domestic daily flights from almost every major Chinese destination. Among them, there are a number of direct schedule flights to some well-know tour destinations in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Lhasa and other cities. International airlines from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Thailand, totaling 10 Asian cities have well established servers at Xian.
Xian Xiangyang airport was opened in 1991. The rapid growth in air traffic in north western China has led it to require further investment. Xian Xianyang airport will see its airport terminal building expanded with new investment buying boarding bridges, air conditioning equipment, and other passenger terminal building equipment.

By Train
Xian Railway Station is one of the most hinge terminals of domestic railway system in China. It is the key junction between the southwest and the northwest, and forms a connecting link between the east and the west of China. Mainly supported by the Long (Lanzhou)-Hai (Lianyungang) Railway which is a vital part of the New Euro-Asian Continental Bridge. At present, there are about 190 scheduled trains passing by or stopping here daily. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Harbin, Lhasa, Dunhuang and Mt. Huashan as well as some other big cities and travel destinations in China are available from Xian Railway Station. For passengers traveling between Xian and the other cities and counties in Shaanxi Province, the Xian Railway Station supplies frequent trains all the year round.

The present Xian Railway Station is located in the northeast of the city, outside of the city wall. It was put into use in 1935, combining the Chinese and western architectural styles. It mainly consists of the Main Building, the Anterior Square, the East Square and the West Square. The two-storey Main Building which is about 7,425 square meters includes four waiting halls with the Ticket Hall to its east and the Exit of the Railway Station to its west. The foreigners' tickets office is on second floor of the south side of the station, and is open daily from 8:30 to 11:30 am and from 2:30-5:30 pm. The Anterior Square is used for taxi parking and a temporary waiting hall in the peak time. The East Square and the West Square assemble a great of number of city-buses, long-distance bus stations and car parks. In order to ease passengers' journeys, the railway station has set some eye-catching indicators both in Chinese and English to guide the road.
By Bus
There are three long distance bus stations in Xian and buses run to central China area and beyond. The Xian Bus Station is located just to the northwest of the railway station square. There are daily buses to Yan'an, Lanzhou in Gansu province, Hanzhong and many other places. The other two bus stations are, Nanguan Bus Station and East City Bus Station. There are buses from the East City Bus station to Huashan Mountain.
