Flying to Guilin is the most convenient and time saving way. There many flights come and out of Guilin from most major cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and so on. There are also direct international flights from Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan etc.
Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is about 30 kilometers west to the city center (about 40 minutes driving). A taxi to the city costs about RMB100. The airport shuttle bus to downtown of the city costs RMB20/person.

Travel by train to Guilin is cheaper than flight but takes more time. Traveling by train is leisure and it is a great way to see the countryside from window and get to know Chinese people, the culture. However, the most inconvenient thing is that the tickets only can be purchase in the departure city.

There are two train stations in Guilin. One is Guilin Train Station in the downtown of the city; the other is Guilin Shifa Station is about 10 kilometers north to the downtown of the city.

There are altogether 3 bus stations in Guilin. The chief station is just next to Guilin Train Station. Most buses set off from this station for surrounding cities in Guangxi, Guangdong and Hunan provinces. Tickets are obtained from the bus station. The bus to Yangshuo depart from the chief bus station. There buses should be inexpensive, about RMB15/ticket. There are many buses to Yangshuo every day from the station.
