A large backpack is not good choice unless you intent to do the trekking tour in Tibet. A waist bag is quite useful to keep the property, important document. Miscellaneous items you may wish to bring along include maps of the areas that you plan on visiting.
Casual attire is recommended. Tibet has fairly cold weather even in the summer. It is much colder at night than the daytime. You can count on experiencing the sudden onset of foul weather as well as temperature extremes while in Tibet. Warm clothing is a must to ensure a comfortable tour.
Wearing several layers of clothing that can be easily added or removed is the wise choice since temperature may vary greatly within a single day.
A down coat is necessary for those who are traveling beyond Lhasa and Shigatse into more remote areas such as the Everest Camp.
A windbreaker is advisable at any time of a year.

Hotels in some areas of Tibet are very simple. You’d better take a cup, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and slippers with you. An electric torch is also necessary as some hotels don't even have power at night and sometimes you may have to travel early in the morning.
UV radiation is strong in Tibet and increases by 5 percent with every 300 meters above sea level. Strong UV is harmful to both eyes and skin, so when you go out into the sun, you should wear anti-UV sunglasses, a sun hat and sun block and high SPE sunscreen cream is needed.
